Treatment in Turkey from the UK: NHS, insurance, flights and aftercare
The NHS does not pay for cosmetic surgery, hair transplants or private dental work abroad. It will treat emergencies, but may not fix the result of a private procedure. Check the FCDO travel advice for Turkey, look for insurance that covers complications, and agree in writing who looks after you once you are home.

What the NHS will do
If you have a complication after returning, the NHS will deal with emergencies, but corrective cosmetic surgery is generally not provided. Read the NHS guidance Cosmetic surgery abroad (NHS) and Healthcare abroad (NHS) before you book.
Insurance
Standard travel insurance often excludes planned procedures and their consequences. Ask the clinic whether it offers complications insurance and read exactly what it covers.
Flights and entry
Istanbul has two international airports: Istanbul (IST) on the European side and Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) on the Asian side, with direct flights from several UK airports. Entry rules can change – check Turkey travel advice (GOV.UK) before booking.
How long to stay
A few days for a hair transplant, often a week or more after surgery under general anaesthetic. Ask when your surgeon will clear you to fly, and leave a margin.
Coming home
Bring your operation notes, prescriptions and the clinic’s contact details. Tell your GP what was done.
